ANDREW MATUSIK
Andrew Matusik double majored in Fine Arts and Politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA. His art degree emphasized contemporary painting. Matusik set out on a journey of extensive global travel to view the world, and in doing was inspired to pick up a camera. He started his photography career in LA, first working as a photographer's assistant to renowned European photographer Neil Kirk.
Influenced by Steven Meisel, Nick Knight, Jerry Schatzberg, David Sims, and Richard Avedon, Matusik has shaped his talent to become one of the first and best compositing photographers. Matusik creates images that are impactful and dramatic with a bold influence of color and depth of field. He enjoys manipulating the environment to create fictional realities. It’s what he calls an equal negative positive relationship with space.
Artistically or in life, Andrew is a man who looks for inspiration and strives to always better himself; "I live life with passion and purpose in every aspect. Andrew's goal is to live a balanced life, and to passionately take on life with purpose and gratitude, joy and humility, and to be a leader in his community.

STUDIO 333 PARK AVE S. NEW YORK CITY FLATIRON
Andrew Matusik moved to NY in 2004 and rented a beautiful studio in Chelsea Manhattan. In 2013 he bought a loft in the Manhattan’s Flatiron district on Park Avenue in the heart of Midtown New York. He envisioned, designed, and built a unique custom multi-purpose loft that transforms from a home set to full on production studio in minuets. Every inch has utility with all elements designed to multi function as well as provide a variety of photographic textures and backgrounds. This purchase and conversion project was featured in the New York Times.

Andrew Matusik’s Fusion photography was featured in RANGEFINDER magazine (see pdf pages below). Matusik in 1999 had started a post production company focusing on “digital retouching.” Matusik has been working with digital photography since the late 90s. He started back in the early days when Photoshop 5, Power Mac 9500s, Imacon 3-pass scanners, and Iomega cartridge drives were the cutting edge tools of the day. Matusik’s retouch company was the first to crack to code on “shaping” celebrities and making them able to be cleaned up and made to fit in sample size fashion (see the “A” list of celebrities worked on at this link). These techniques were instrumental in the transitioning of magazine covers from “super models” to “celebrities.” These stories have been documented in the below article featured in AFTER CAPTURE magazine (see below). Matusik’s post techniques have also been featured in Katrin Eismann’s top selling “how-to” Photoshop Retouching books; that are used world wide.
